Dr. Eva Chalas works with the Winthrop Wound Healing Center team to treat complex ob/gyn wounds. She is the Director of Clinical Cancer Services and Vice-Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winthrop-University Hospital, where she specializes in caring for women with gynecologic cancers and complex gynecologic problems. Dr. Chalas is actively involved in clinical research, particularly via the collaborative trials of the Gynecologic Oncology Group supported by NCI grants, and outreach research supported by grants from the Department of Health in New York State. She has published and lectured extensively, with a primary focus on the prevention and treatment of gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Chalas obtained her MD degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stony Brook University Hospital, followed by a fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1987, where she served as an American Cancer Society Fellow. She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Gynecologic Oncology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
